On your marks, get set, fish!

Let’s start with one of our region’s must-do activities: shore fishing. Surveying the foreshore this winter will inevitably be synonymous witha well-stocked basket (while respecting resources and regulations) and a succulent seafood meal. So don’t hesitate, dress warmly and take advantage of this season’s high tidal coefficients: every month or so, you’ll be able to benefit from high coefficients. Many species are caught on our coasts, and it’s just as easy to discover the foreshore and shellfish while fishing – an intergenerational activity that everyone loves!

If you’re looking for a bit of gourmet pleasure and a little warmth, choose a good seaside restaurant where you’ll easily find shellfish, seafood and other delicacies to delight your taste buds. Many of them offer a magnificent panoramic view of the sea and foreshore during your meal. These include Le Neptune, Les bains de mer and La Plancha in Agon-Coutainville, Le Grand Herbet in Blainville-sur-Mer and Les Dunes in Gouville-sur-Mer. And that’s just the beginning. If you don’t want to eat out, simply take advantage of these establishments to enjoy a snack by the sea, a comforting hot chocolate or a glass of mulled wine in the early evening.

On your own

Once you’ve filled your stomach, why not take a stroll? The choice is yours. You could take a stroll along the Agon-Coutainville promenoir and discover, on the one hand, the beauty of the landscape and, on the other, the unique architecture of the seaside resort. You could also head for Hauteville-sur-Mer and its promenoir, then continue on to the Dunes d’Annoville, a listed site not to be missed under any circumstances. Do dunes and wilderness appeal to you? Then discover the dunes of Gouville-sur-Mer and its famous colorful cabins, or the famous Pointe d’Agon. If you’re feeling like a hiker, don’t hesitate to follow one of our 14 coastal hiking trails, some of which take in the sublime GR 223 or Sentier des Douaniers for a few kilometers.

In a group

Perhaps you prefer to walk with someone? Once again, we have the solution. A number of local tourist associations (Dunes et Bocages, Association d’animation touristique de la Côte des Havres, de Blainville-sur-Mer ou de Gavray-sur-Sienne) offer walking outings of 8 to 10 kilometers, particularly along the seafront. The seaside, an XXL-sized playground

The foreshore and sea are also great playgrounds for all generations. Take advantage of these immense spaces to fly kites, build the most beautiful sand castles, try your hand at longe-côte or the traditional Christmas bath. You’ll see, once you’re in, it’s (really) good. On your walks, you may also find little treasures washed up by the sea (driftwood, polished glass, pretty shells, etc.). So bring out your artistic soul by collecting them. It’s up to you!
